THE NEST DANCE TROUPE
The Nest is a nonprofit organization that fosters dance in Bucks County.
The program for First Night includes "The Nutcracker Suite" music by Tchaikovsky. We start with snow and an introduction of Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy. Then we move through all of the classic divertissements including Spanish, Candy Cane, Marzipan, Polichinelle, Flowers, and Sugarplum Fairy variation
Last on the program will be "Art Moves"with choreography by Rachel Grisi, sculpture by John Mathews and music by Rob Dougan and Chip Davis. This piece is a modern dance piece incoporating a piece of sculpture. The piece was originally created by a cultural incentive grant at The Bucks County Community College. There are 5 women dancers and it is quite intense as they portray the movement in the sculpture.
The Nest promotes dance awareness in Bucks County Pennsylvania by educating and mentoring dancers, producing artistic works, creating alliances with artists and the community, and providing a venue for collaboration in an inspiring and nurturing environment. The specific objective and purpose of the non-for-profit corporation is to promote dance in Bucks county through classes, workshops, performances, and other services. The Nest works to educate and train dancers in several different community based events.
The Nest stages performances in the community to help build an audience for concert dance in Bucks County and provides a place for artists to come and work in an inspiring and creative environment.
This summer we will be celebrating our 10th annual summer dance intensive. Our production of The Nutcracker Suite includes children age 5 through professional. We started our own school this fall with classes available at The Newtown Quaker Meetinghouse. The school will be performing Saint Saens "Carnival of The Animals" this March.
