Interested in Volunteering?
First Night Newtown relies on volunteers to make the night a complete
success! Teens (over age 16) and adults are encouraged to commit
to a two-hour shift in exchange for free admission to the night's
festivities. Shifts begin at 3:30 p.m. (for set up) and end with
the late-night clean-up shift. Volunteers will be expected to act
in a manner that supports First Night Newtown's mission of providing
a safe, fun, alcohol- and drug-free, family-friendly event. To
pick a shift and a venue location, please contact Marlowe Gordon
at marne136gordon@gmail.com.
Check In
Volunteers must check in at the Volunteer/Performer Table at the East
entrance of the Council Rock High School -- North, where you will receive
your volunteer badge and complimentary First Night button. All volunteers
must be identified as such at all times until their shift is completed.
After checking in, volunteers must head immediately to their assigned
venue and check in with the site captain there. Volunteers are welcome
to free coffee at the Headquarters Office, located in the Teacher’s
Lounge in the high school (in the hallway between the cafeteria and the
gym). Please keep your personal belongings to a minimum, as we cannot
guarantee security of your valuables during your shift.
Volunteers Bringing Kids or Guests
Volunteers must pay regular admission for their children or other non-volunteering family members. Because we expect long lines that evening, we recommend that you purchase any necessary buttons at our advance sales locations. Please be aware that First Night staff, volunteers, Council Rock school employees and vendors are not responsible for supervising your children while you are working your shift.
